What is your favorite childhood book?

My favorite childhood book is the Junie B. Jones series. I loved every single one of the books in that series. I remember begging my parents to get the books for me when we had our book fairs and then I would stay up way past my bedtime to read them without my parents knowing.

What is your secret talent?

My secret talent is so secret that I don’t even know it yet. But a fun fact is that I am double jointed so my fingers are more flexible than some.

Who was your favorite teacher in Elementary School and Why?

My favorite teacher growing up was my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Gailee. She made me feel so welcome, so cared for, and so loved. She would go out of her way to make sure that we all knew how special and loved we were. She was always patient with us and made class so fun. She was the first staff we saw in the morning who greeted us with a hug when we got to school and the last staff we saw who gave us goodbye hugs as we got on our bus to go home.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?

My favorite thing about being in the teaching environment is creating almost a home away from home. Students spend so much time at school so creating a safe space for them to just be themselves is my favorite part. When they are able to have this space to just be there’s no option but for there to be growth, which is special.

What is your favorite subject to teach and why?

I haven’t formally taught but I always find myself in spaces with teachers whether it’s tutoring or being a supportive aid to teachers. I’ve found myself drawn to English and Math classes. I love getting to be around students and getting to be a part of expanding the capacity of their imagination and I also love helping students in the process of figuring out formulas/equations and how fun it could actually be. Getting to watch how their mind works is amazing.
